The news is welcomed by consumer groups who have been pushing fast-food franchises to stop cooking with ingredients that contain harmful trans-fatty acids. Miss Queenie’s is now the fifth franchise in the country to make this move. It follows in the footsteps of other popular national fast-food companies, including Hoagie Town and Pizza Palace, who reported slight increases in sales after making the switch. The public relations director for Miss Queenie’s，William Bueller, said at a press conference, “Our chain of restaurants will completely eliminate trans fats from the food it serves by the end of May.” He also went on to state that the usage of refined sugar in menu items had been reduced by 12 percent.Industry experts see the trend as a continuing one, as consumer pressure forces the food servicesector to offer healthier options.
