Re : Mr L
I have been instructed by my client, Mr L, to write and seek an appointment with you to discuss how the American interests can be protected in connection with his application for a B1 visa.
Mr L is the Deputy General Manager of Company C, the Chinese Representative Company of Company A, an American company headquartered in Redwood City, California.
Company A is the world's leading supplier of polymeric heat exchangers for a quarter century with over one million heat exchangers installed worldwide, including systems installed at the following locations in China :
BH Technology BuildingCNB Broadcasting BuildingBWT Certre - Phase OneBWT Centre - Phase TwoEquipment supplied so far has been in excess of USD 2 million.
Mr Lis required to accompany a few decision makers of Phases 3 & 4 of the BWT Centre in Beijing to attend meetings at Company A with a view to finalising contracts amounting to USD 1 million for the Ice Thermo Storage Systems supplied by Company A.
His proposed trip is to be financed by Company C, which has earmarked RMB 150,000 for the purpose.
In an invitation letter from Company A, it has been pointed out by the President of the company that there are competitors from other countries apart from USA bidding for the project and it is crucial for Mr L to attend the on-site meetings as he has been Company A's representative in China looking after its interests for a couple of years already.
Mr L applied for a B1 visa twice but was rejected on both occasions. From what he described of the interviews, it would appear that his failure was not due to any adverse report that the Embassy may have in its possession of which we are not aware.
The successful signing of contracts for Phases 3 & 4 of the BWT Centre in Beijing will consolidate the position of Company A as a leading supplier of ice thermo storage systems to sizeable construction projects in China. Apart from the USD 1 million involved in Phases 3 & 4, the potential economic benefits to America is not to be sniffed at.
Admittedly, America is enjoying a period of unparalleled economic boom, there is no reason however for it to be complacent. We strongly feel the granting of Mr L's B1 visa will be of benefit to the American economy in general, and to Company A in particular.
We are writing to you because you are the commercial arm of the US Government. We believe it is your responsibility to assist Mr L's application in a bid to protect the American interests.
Please ring me on my Beijing number (010) 6470 1837 or my mobile phone number 1350 1156 231 so that we can organize a meeting when Mr L and myself may have the opportunity to provide you with further details.
I rang you a few times today and I have left you some messages on your answering machine. On second thought, I feel I had better put our request down in writing, hence this message.
Regards
Preston ChowManaging Partner
