ladies and gentlemen, teachers, My fellow students:
i am very excited and feel it's a great honor to stand here to deliver My speech. what i'm going to talk about is "Choice in My Life"
i can still remember the first time i failed in a singing contest. i immediately ran to My grandma, shedding lots of tears of course! i cried loudly and could hardly utter a word!
then, badly needed comforting words and touch came from grandma. i gradually regained My sense of pride and a sensible control of My feelings. yet, head down, i said: "grandma, i have no Choice, and i have to give up, right?" "look at me, My dear!"she said gently. i looked up, straight into her eyes. what i saw was a shining, sweet, and loving stream from the bottom of her heart! then, there came the gentle voice of hers: "no, no, no…" her head shaking, while eyes smiling. "why don't you give more attention to the details?" she continued.
no other words were needed any more! i started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, My overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high! without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, i won!
what do i learn from this experience? never give up lightly! Life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your Lifeboat wisely! as a li ling's sportswear commercial goes "everything is possible!" but not without sweat, devotion, and tears sometimes!
Life is a long journey, during which we are surely going to face many challenges, experience lots of failures, and equally, many opportunities are waving to us, while sweet rewards are waiting for us! to transform these opportunities into fruitful results, or turn those challenges and failures into valuable assets, we must learn to seize the good ones and not to retreat lightly in front of difficulties.
winners can never be quitters!
thank you all!
Choice in My Life
good evening, ladies and gentleman! i’m limudan, a sophomore from class 1. today, i’d like to share something about the Choice in My Life.
we know Life is all of Choices. although we can not make a tree to blossom and to suit us, nor make it bear food before it’s time, but there are things we can choose. we can control when the fruit will fall, and we can choose what time to seed. since everybody is born equal like a piece of white paper. what our Life would choose to be (in this same paper) is depended on ourselves own.
about one and a half year ago, i made one of the most important Choices in My Life, to choose a special field as My major, english. but, in fact, i was admitted to chinese department at first. as i had less interest on it, i wanted to choose another one. then, it is My generous father who gave me a second chance. i took it seriously. at last, i chose english as My major for the next 4 years. now, My paper is full of english, though it troubles me sometime, i will never feel regret for My Choice. because, just like confucius, an ancient chinese philosopher said, ‘choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your Life.’ therefore, english is not a matter of job to me, but a Lifelong friend.
however, no matter how i love english, all is just My own Choice of attitude. there must be someone who is not interested in it. so, what
would you do? should you give up then? of course not! be patient and wise please. choosing a positive attitude will surely bring you much more happiness. just regard it as a friend in your Life. we should know that Life is to be lived, savored and enjoyed; it’s too short to be wasted or complained about.
every morning when we get up, we have a Choice on how we want to approach Life that day. make it or waste it? it’s all depended on you. j.k. rowing, the author of harry potter said, ’it is our Choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.’ so to be or not to be, it’s your Choice!
thanks for your attention!

My Life in college
after the college entrance examination i was still dreaming about My college and My college Life. i had gone shanghai last year. i just stayed here one day. i have no more comprehensions but it is an economic center. with an indefinable mood i came to the city the college that i will have a four-year college Life.
i think the feelings of everyone to be a college student are not same. i just tell you My sensations about that. the first time i came to our college i had no any mood. maybe it is because of the rain or too many things about register on that day. then i know a word firstly in My Life—dormitory Life. i had never lived in a dormitory before. i felt fresh. but the room is too small to six girls. i know that can not change so i will accept it. in the college i meet many new friends from different parts of our country. i am very surprised to know so many differences between the southern and the northern. that is very interesting.
before i got here i was worried about the food. the food in My hometown is briny. to My surprise i am very like the food here. there is one thing i do not like that it is the campus is too small. our college has a big trait that the elevators are so crowded! i must wait a long time at the elevator gate every time. that is so boring. but i am accustomed to the Life.
there is a big difference between college and high school. i have more free time. i may spend the time on My love things. for example, reading books, listening music, shopping, chatting with My old friends and My parents online. but study is more important than past. the few lessons mean the more knowledge. i not only learn the things in class the teachers tell me but also learn i want to know or i must know. that is necessary to My Life in the future.
now i have been a college student for two months. My body already fits in with the way to the new Life. i decided the different time of getting up by the time of the first class every day. i have three meals in our dining-room. sometimes i go to the study room and library. i spent some time on the internet. this is an age that can not without internet. i think My Life in college just like this. they are trivial but rich. i hope and i am sure i will have a nice Life in My college. i expect that the coming four years.
My sunshine in My Life
how should i describe My Life? it's a golden age because we have an interesting and colorful Life.
if you enter any classroom when you do self-study off school, you will find that students are making good use of their time. some of the students are busy reading english or chinese. now we are studying hard, because study comes first now. in our pr class, we are no longer bookworms, but because so lively that we feel just like fish in the water. we hope to enter our ideal universities or colloeges after we graduate from our school for we will become
trans——century talents in the near future.
i am sure, in the future, when we look back on our lives today, we must can feelproud of ourselves!
hua shan is the highest of china’s five sacred mountains. it is 120 kilometers east of xian. it has five peaks that resemble the petals of a flower. the highest peak is 2180 meters (7085 feet).we had had discussions about going to hua shan with some graduate students from computer science. that didn’t work out due to changes in schedules on both sides. also, they were planning to do the climb at night to be able to reach the peak at sunrise. that did not appeal to us. we wanted to spend a night on the mountain. fran’s department arranged a trip for us, making
reservations at the simple hotel on the north peak. they sent two graduate students to accompany us, though they had not been to hua shan before. we met them at 8:00 on saturday morning and took a taxi to the train station. there we asked around and located a mini-bus. the bus made a couple of stops. one was to see a presentation about the traditional medicines grown on the mountain and a chance to buy some of them. it probably would have been interesting if we understood chinese. our guides gave us the general outline about what was said. the other stop was a quick lunch stop.
there are two approaches to hua shan. [chinese proverb: “there is one road and only one road to hua shan,” meaning that sometimes the hard way is the only way.] the west entrance involves 10 kilometers of walking on a road before you start climbing. we went with the east entrance, where the bus brings you to the base of a cable car that goes up to the 1500 meter north peak. our plan was to walk up to the north peak, then climb to the four other peaks the next day and take the cable car down.
we started the climb in the early afternoon. the path consists of stone steps with rough chain link handrails in the narrowest areas (we wore our bicycling gloves for hand protection). physically, it is more like climbing the steps of a skyscraper than trails at home. however, the temperature was about 95 degrees and there was not much shade. we brought lots of water, including some bottles that we froze and some gatorade that we got at the fancy department store in downtown xian. there are plenty of refreshment stands along the way where you can buy bottled water, the chinese equivalent of gatorade, and other drinks or snacks at a premium price.
we reached the north peak before 4:00 pm and rested at the hotel. our room was basic, but
comfortable and clean enough. because water is scarce on the mountain, there were neither showers nor sinks available for washing. in that sense the experience felt like (更多精彩内容请访问首页www.haoworD.CoM)camping, but we were sleeping in a big tent!
after dinner at the hotel restaurant, we spent some time talking with our guides. we were a bit surprised to find that they both think of japan negatively, but like the u.s. it seems that japan’s wwii behavior in china has not been forgotten, and is emphasized in school.
we saw a beautiful sunset and watched the sky become resplendent with thousands of stars,
including the milky way galaxy. this was the clearest sky that we have seen in china. the fresh air at hua shan is a treat!
our guides had both been planning to get up at 4:00 am to watch the sunrise. fran and i made sleep a priority. we did happen to wake up a bit before sunrise (our room faced east) and went outside to watch the sky become rosy. ironically, our guides missed the sunrise because they had stayed up late watching the european soccer championships on the television in their room
water is very important for us. we must drink water everyday. we can’t live without water. water is everywhere around us. at home, we use water to wash clothes, to wash dishes, to cook rice, to clean the flat, to have showers, to
make drinks, to clean our teeth, to have a bath and so on. at work, people use water to put out fires, to grow vegetables, to make things in factories and so on. we also can swim in the sea. water is important for us, isn’t it?
